Welcome
A very warm welcome.
I am a registered member of the BACP and hold a Level 7 Master's Degree (Distinction) as an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor.
As an Integrative Therapist, the way I work is individual to each client's needs. I am based in Topsham, Devon, but sessions can be held online. My passion is supporting and empowering new mums during pregnancy and the perinatal period.

I recognise how important the therapeutic relationship is and my priority is to provide you with a safe, welcoming, confidential, unjudgemental space for you to feel heard in your struggles whatever they may be and to help you gain self-awareness and clarity.
Therapy is a partnership. We’ll work together to explore what is helpful for you. You may feel you need support or guidance in something very current, or it could be understanding events from the past that have impacted on you.
From my own experience, I know how difficult it can be to take that first step into asking for help, but also how beneficial it can be to feel supported with the right therapist alongside you on your journey.

What is Counselling and Psychotherapy?
Counselling and Psychotherapy are both talking therapies. Counselling tends to be shorter term work addressing a specific issue, whereas psychotherapy can be working at a much deeper level addressing behaviours and emotional patterns. Saying that, they are often intertwined, both providing a safe space for self-exploration and growth. The most important aspect is they both hold a contracted, boundaried, confidential and trusting relationship that promotes the wellbeing of the client in helping them to understand themselves better.
You are the expert in your own life and therapy can provide the tools in helping you to process and manage where you may need it. We’ll work together on your healing journey, and you’ll have the power to make decisions about your therapy. This empowers you to take control of your healing process.

"People start to heal the moment they feel heard."
— Cheryl Richardson

Qualifications, Training and Experience
I am fully insured and ethically bound by my membership to the BACP and regularly take part in CPD workshops to keep my knowledge and skills up to date.

I have spent many years working within the NHS in Perinatal Mental Health and volunteered as a counsellor for Cruse Bereavement and also for a domestic abuse charity. I qualified in Early Years Development over 20 years ago and have a passion for supporting new mums in building relationships with themselves and their babies and helping them understand why having a new baby isn't always what we expect.

What to Expect
Deciding to go to therapy can often feel daunting with not knowing what to expect. You have made the first step already by being here. It is perfectly normal to feel many different emotions. It is important that you feel safe, welcome and comfortable in my practice. (So feel free to bring a blanket or a pair of slippers if you would like to!)
After our initial online consultation, we will meet at my practice in Topsham, Exeter. The space is cosy and relaxed with facilities to grab a drink during your session.
I will greet you in the waiting area when your session is scheduled and show you to our therapy room. Sessions last for 50 minutes and will be weekly or fortnightly. Topsham offers beautiful scenic walks by the water and hosts picturesque buildings through the town which means it is a great place to have a bit of down time after sessions.
If our sessions are held online, it is important you have a safe and private space to talk and anything you may feel you need to hand.
"When we create a safe space for our pain, we allow healing to occur."
- Tara Brach
